Well well, y'all are just a photogenic flock of people aren't ya? You look just like your mom, Sarah, and your brother John looks just like your dad...

woah you're right, I knew it was one of the two.

I guess people weren't quite as sensitive with nicknames back then. If you tacked "The stammerer" on someone nowadays you'd get sued hehehe...

Yeah, the only homeschoolers around here are Baptists, and talking to them gets..uh.. interesting.

So have you gotten to read Giorgio Vasari's "Lives of the Artists" yet? His biography of Michaelangelo is so cool, he has such a great sense of humor! I can't remember which quarter any of this stuff belongs in, and I'm too lazy to get my old syllabus out...

Your pic isn't displaying properly. Have you tried saving it to your hardrive and uploading it from there, or did you just copy the image url?

I guess I can post as John since John Brungardt has a logo and whatnot...

Hey Michael,

Wow, you even liked Thucyidides? You must be one of those people who actually LIKES Saxon math. What a trooper...

Senior year is actually very easy compared to the previous years (except Calculus, but that shouldn't be a problem if you got through AM well) because A) you don't read nearly as many things and B) the things you are reading aren't nearly as challenging.

For the 1st quarter I did Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The House of the Seven Gables" which is just amazing; I would have read this by myself if it weren't for school.

On the history side I read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and most of the Federalist papers. I'm a little behind in the schoolyear this time because I decided to start about a month and a half late so I could study for the SAT, but that payed off!

Oh yeah, and Huckleberry Finn too, I almost forgot...

I'm actually in the review week right now so I have to take my 1st quarter exams next week.

Can't wait till next quarter: I get to study a bunch of Marx and Engels, and then some Cold War history by Paul Johnson, that'll be fun.

So you opted to take a college Algebra course instead of the advanced math route with Saxon?

I completely understand, I sometimes think I should've done the same...

Via con Dios!

I assure you Virginia, if you met me in person I wouldn't inspire adjectives like "brainy" or "intelligent", so don't let me make you feel dumb lol.

It looks like the suits are onto us Michael, we'll have to take this to email...

I think you a good deal more like your dad than your mom...

I just got back from serving mass for the Immaculate Conception, how was mass for y'all?

I think you *look a good deal etc.

I'm not being defensive, I'm feeling left out...though I somewhat enjoy reading you guys' sympathies with each other, I mean, discussions, about the Kolbe curriculum. : )

Michael, I said that you didn't know who Scott Stapp is. Past tense. Now you know because someone told you. mmm hmm...beside the point. **Remember the whole "Stewart Copeland" thing?**

Saxon Math rocks. They are to the point. I went up through Algebra II, then did College Algebra and Trig last year at Butler, where I'm now doing Calculus. But you all knew that, so I'm just boring you.

Good luck on finals all around...
Calc finals for me are on Wednesday.

And Mass was fabulous as usual...7am, as usual. Emad was there! He cracks me up. Right Jen? ; )

Hey Michael,

The first thing anyone should know about Florida is that Miami is not part of it. Miami is a different country, I'm not kidding. Let's just say ellos no hablo inglés.

If you know where Tampa is, I live about 30 miles east of there in a swampy middle of nowhere. It's kinda growing up now 'cause the yankees are building subdivisions everywhere, but ANYWAY... I obviously root for the Tampa Buccanneers (you know, '02 Superbowl champs?).

Since I am a diehard UF fan, FSU is the blood enemy. They got whupped by us in the Fl vs. FS game this year, which is usually pretty close. Nosir, Bobby Bowden and gang aren't goin' anywhere this year. I've got a feeling that USC is going all the way this year, you mark my words...

I went to the vigil mass as well(altar serving complicates things hehe) and they were both supposedly bilingual, but in actuality they were almost entirely in Spanish...

Michael,

Yeah? Whereabouts does he live here? The only person in my family that's ever gone to UF is my uncle, it's the family has just been Florida fans since way back, though I'm not sure why...

It's been a weird season for the Bucs so far. I'm not sure anything they do can make up for the San Francisco game though....blech...

Virginia,

ND is the other main college team that I root for. It's just another unexplainable tradition I guess hehe. I would imagine that being in the midwest, ND is probably a huge deal out there huh? Who would you guys root for in pro? Kansas City?

Perhaps you're right, but no more so than yourself, of that I'm sure. Certainly not to the degree of making you feel dumb though. ;-)

Now I have to go to work and make some money, talk to y'all later!

In Christ, John Hall

Bernadette! Congratulations!! I hope I see you there next year, if UD doesn't win me over with their scholarships.

Good to hear from everyone else... nice to see you yesterday, Michael.

Okay, y'all know that I'm not the biggest sports fan in the world, but I go for KU and ND, too. Michael, what about BCC? Go Grizzlies! ha ha.

Anyway, have a great weekend, everyone! I think we're going to 'Narnia' today, and watching "Cinderella Man" tonight.

seacb said...

Oh, yeah, School of Community was last night. We're really an original group, you know? Some interesting topics came up.

For those of you who are totally clueless as to what I'm talking about, go to

My hearts also torn between UD and TAC too!!! :( Pray for me.

Am I safe in assuming that UD is the University of Dallas?

Anonymous said...

Yes, UD is the University of Dallas... erm, has anyone seen the new Pride and Prejudice movie yet? I saw it last night and I LOVED it! I haven't seen any other version though, so I don't really have anything else to compare it too. How was "Narnia" Sarah? I think we're going to see it this weekend. Anyway, I gotta get working on my econ homework so toodles! God bless,

Bernadette

Pride & Prejudice is GREAT! I saw it with my mom last weekend. I hope to take my sister tomorrow.

Narnia was really good, though it just made you want to watch Lord of the Rings.

Well, I need to work on school, etc. I've got a new post in the works.

*chanting* Post! Post! Post!

Saw narnia con la familia yesterday. Naturally they loved it, and I thought it was pretty good, but I kinda thought it moved a bit too fast.

Maybe I shouldn't compare it to the fantastic character development in LOTR though...

Whoa, Michael, one girl at a time! lol : )

Of course you can bring people who aren't homeschooled. We've had kids from Kapaun, Carroll, and public schools come to teen group functions. Everyone's welcome.

Youth Talent audition on Sunday...wish me luck.

And I'm still working on that post...

Anonymous said...

I guess I'll catch up with this one post:

Michael,

Yeah that was a big win for us Sunday, many of us didn't think we were going to pull that off, but we controlled then entire game from the beginning. Let's see, I think Tennessee is playing the Seahawks this Sunday, so we'll find out soon enough!

Uhm, I'll probably just be working since I mostly just do that on the weekends.

Haha, too many girls not enough time eh Michael? An enviable dilemma hehe...

ah, Villehardouin's "Conquest of Constantinople", really fantastic once you get into it. Though it does start off really slow with dealing with the Venetians and stopping to conquer that slavic town. Once they make landfall at the Bosphorus though it all goes terribly awry. Have you gotten to the treachery of Mourzuphles yet? It's kinda funny when the Westerners living in the city actually set it on fire because they're afraid of the Byzantines lol...

Sarah,

What's the youth talent audition? (don't say "it's an audition")

Virginia,

Yeah, it was actually a very good representation of the book looking back on it. Well I don't know about William Moseley, but the girl that played Susan had the prettiest eyes. Hmm... I think I saw an old BBC version of it once a long a time ago, and I can't remember if it was any good or not. I want to go see Pride & Prejudice but I can't get anyone to see it with me!

I'm going to see King Kong with some people on Monday, I can't really tell if it's going to be good, but the critics sure things so. TAC's Christmas vacation starts tommorrow doesn't it? So he should be home this weekend?

Michael,

How about The Beetles? ;-)
If I think of any real ones I'll let you know...

Peace of Christ to all of you, Christmas is a week from Sunday!

In Christ, John Hall

Well, not unless you consider eating dinner and sleeping a life-changing event. I'm guessing you did?

Anonymous said...

I dunno about you guys, but I grew up on the BBC version of Narnia. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I really liked them :) I haven't seen the new one yet though, so we'll see...

seacb said...

My band name suggestion: El Cid. (You'll never guess what movie Joe watched yesterday... : )

Youth Talent is, yes, an audition, for a scholarship and a solo performance with the Youth Symphony. I don't so much care if I win or not, but that I do my very best, and am happy with myself.

Jen, I don't think we'll top yours anytime soon.

It's going to be awesome when John gets back! I think he's filming my audition. I wish he was getting back in time for the dance, though.

Take care.
